Townmore partners with Kate Fahey, Ireland’s first female tower crane operator, to launch industry-wide campaign promoting careers in construction

Townmore, one of Ireland’s fastest growing construction companies, has partnered with Kate Fahey, a dynamic and accomplished construction professional, to launch an industry-wide campaign aimed at raising awareness among young people and those outside the industry about the exciting and rewarding career opportunities available in construction today, with a particular focus on modern methods of construction.



As society evolves, so does the construction industry. With advancements in technology, sustainability, and construction techniques, it is crucial to bridge the gap between the industry and the younger generation. Through this partnership, Townmore and Kate seek to inspire individuals to explore construction as a viable career option, emphasising the immense potential for learning, personal development, and a fulfilling lifetime career.

A career in construction is not what it once was; offsite and other modern methods of construction (MMC) are revolutionising the industry, offering efficient and sustainable alternatives to traditional building practices. Digitalisation and automation are driving construction innovation and enabling environmental consciousness. The #ImInConstruction campaign aims to highlight these exciting advancements and showcase the diversity of roles and opportunities available within the modern construction landscape.

At 19 years of age, Kate Fahey brings a fresh perspective to the campaign. Already a trailblazing figure within the industry, she has shattered stereotypes and proven that gender is no barrier to success in construction. Her on-site skills and passion make her an ideal ambassador for promoting inclusivity and diversity within the sector. By sharing her personal journey and experiences, she aims to inspire young people, both male and female, to consider a career in construction and empower them to pursue their dreams fearlessly.

Through a series of TikTok videos and other outreach initiatives, the #ImInConstruction campaign is calling on industry professionals of all ages and levels of expertise to share their stories about working in construction and dispelling common misconceptions. The aim is to reach a wider audience and encourage dialogue among educators and aspiring individuals.
