RAINSCREEN FAÇADE SYSTEM SOLUTIONS

High performance non-combustible insulation for rainscreen façade systems.

Rainscreen façade systems are lightweight when compared to brick and masonry solutions and can provide the designer with a wide range of aesthetic options.

In addition to thermal performance, fire performance of insulation materials is a crucial consideration, particularly when designing buildings over 18m in height or when the building is to have high occupancy levels or be used by vulnerable occupants.

How accurate are your thermal calculations?

There are several options for calculating the thermal performance of rainscreen façade systems – if the calculation is even marginally inaccurate it can have a damaging impact on the overall thermal performance of a building which makes it crucially important to ensure the right method is used.

Knauf Insulation offers FREE 3D U-value calculations to BS EN 10211 as standard – the most accurate method for calculating U-values of rainscreen façade systems – ensuring the thermal requirements specified during design stage are achieved.

Are you minimising fire risk?

Specifying non-combustible products in Rainscreen applications minimises the risk of fire spread. Use of Earthwool® Rainscreen Slab ensures that the insulation does not contribute to the fire load or spread of fire. In turn this can help to maximise the structure’s stability under fire load. In all cases the whole wall system should be considered

Earthwool® RainScreen Slab has the best possible Euroclass A1 Reaction to Fire Classification rating meaning it will not contribute to the spread of a fire in any way.

Building regulations (Approved Document B and an amendment to Regulation 7) restrict the use of combustible materials in the external walls of certain buildings over 18m in height, limiting the use of materials to those achieving a Euroclass Reaction to Fire Classification rating of A1 or A2 s1-d0 in certain building types.
