Ray Greene, Director at Jones Engineering said, “Today marks a new chapter. With the opening of this office, we are not just expanding our geographic footprint; we are embedding ourselves in the fabric of Swedish society. Gävle will become a focal point for our operations in the region, a hub from which we will radiate innovation, collaboration and growth. This office, and more importantly, the people within it, will serve all our Swedish operations, spanning from Malmo to Skellefteå. We are deeply grateful for the warm welcome and support we’ve received from the Swedish nation. Our team, alongside our Swedish counterparts, has found a home here, thanks to the generosity and hospitality extended to us. For that, we are truly thankful.

“Having operated in Sweden for almost a decade, the opening of this office marks a significant milestone for us. This office will serve as a cornerstone, supporting our teams as we continue to grow and thrive in the region. It represents our commitment to sustainability, reducing transit emissions, and contributing to the local economy. Moreover, it has become a wonderful place to live for many of our team members, who now call Gävle home.”

Hiring and expanding across the Nordics

Jones Engineering is currently recruiting new talent significantly across the Nordics region to support additional business growth with over 30 job opportunities available. Positions include graduate and senior engineers, quantity surveyors and planning managers across both the mechanical and electrical sectors.

H.E. Barbara Jones, Ambassador of Ireland to the Kingdom of Sweden said “I am delighted that Jones Engineering Group has chosen to open a Nordic regional office in Gävle and am honoured to be back in Gävle for today’s opening. Irish companies such as Jones Engineering have developed a strong international reputation in engineering and high-tech construction services and have a proven track-record for their work on transformational, green industrial projects. Jones Engineering have built this track record over their 134 year history and I have no doubt that their innovation and talent will continue to flourish here in Gävle and across the Nordic region.

“Jones Engineering and their teams are right at the heart of their community here in Gävle and I wish to thank Chair of the Gävle Municipal Council, Åsa Wiklund-Lång, CEO of the Gävle Kommun, Goran Arnell and all at the Municipality and local services for the warm welcome and unstinting support they have extended to Jones and other pioneering Irish companies. Ireland and Sweden share a deep commitment to sustainable growth, the green transition, innovation and to a set of common values.

“The success of Jones Engineering in Sweden is an embodiment of the work of Ireland’s Nordic Strategy, which commits to deepening Ireland’s political, economic, cultural and community links with our Nordic partners. I wish the team at Jones Engineering the very best in their next chapter and look forward to supporting them in their work.”

Susan Byrne, Senior Market Advisor, Enterprise Ireland added “The announcement today by Jones Engineering Group is very much welcomed by Enterprise Ireland and demonstrates their commitment to the local economy in Gävle and their continued investment in the Swedish market. Irish construction companies continue to forge increasingly strong links in Sweden and are achieving significant export sales and employment across the region.

“Building on strong reputations for delivering large, complex projects internationally and have become central to the Swedish and the wider Nordic supply chain. More than fifty Irish high-tech construction enterprises operate in the Nordics, including forty in Sweden. In the Nordics, many mission-critical facilities are being constructed, and Irish businesses have been the lead contractors for these projects in the region.”

Supporting local communities in Sweden

As part of Jones Engineering’s sustainability journey, one of its main goals is to give back to the communities that the company serves. Jones Engineering recently announced a partnership with Barncancerfonden, the Swedish Children’s Cancer Foundation. Jones believes in creating a positive impact that goes beyond engineering solutions, fostering a culture of care, and contributing to the wider well-being of society. Jones has also collaborated with the Rapatac Youth Club, culminating in the completion of a state-of-the-art media room, which aims to stimulate development by providing the young people of Gävle with the resources needed to build a more sustainable future.
