UNDERGROUND STORMWATER STORAGE
TANKS FROM GEOLINE
Due to increased activity in the building sector over the last decade or so, local authorities have laid down strict guidelines for developers who wish to construct new projects on existing non-developed land. No longer can collected stormwater be discharged openly into the existing drainage network. All developments of scale now have to contain their stormwater on site and slowly release it to the drainage network at a controlled rate. To facilitate this, Geoline Ltd has partnered up with a number of UK and German manufacturers using GeoBloc, Pluvial Cube and Polystorm Attenuation Crate Systems to install underground stormwater storage tanks. Underground tanks are particularly of interest on development sites where space is limited and wherever m2 of land is valuable.

In a typical stormwater management system, attenuation tanks and ponds can work sequentially to effectively control and manage stormwater runoff in urban and developed areas. The initial stormwater runoff may be directed to attenuation tanks where it is stored, temporarily. If the tank’s capacity is exceeded or if controlled release is needed, the overflow or excess water can then be directed to an attenuation pond, usually located directly above the tank, to comply with the new SUDS directive. Tanks handle immediate, intense runoff, while ponds also provide additional capacity and help manage the gradual release of water, all via a vortex flow control unit, located in the outlet manhole.
