BENNETT CONSTRUCTION RETAINS PRESTIGIOUS INVESTORS IN DIVERSITY SILVER ACCREDITATION

Recognition Reinforces Commitment to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in the Workplace

Bennett Construction is proud to announce the successful retention of Investors in Diversity Silver accreditation from the Centre of Diversity. This recognition underscores Bennett Construction’s ongoing commitment to fostering a fair and inclusive workplace culture.

The Investors in Diversity Silver reaccreditation signifies that Bennett Construction has been rigorously benchmarked against leading organisations and has continued to uphold best-in-class inclusive practices across its operations. This achievement highlights the company’s dedication to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) into every facet of its business, ensuring that fairness and a sense of belonging are experienced by all employees.

“We first achieved Bronze accreditation in 2022, followed by Silver in 2023,” said Helena Kiernan, HR Director. “We chose to maintain the Silver accreditation as the evaluation process, particularly the comprehensive employee survey, aligns with our EDI Strategy. It was important for us to ensure that our people genuinely experience an inclusive workplace environment.”

“We recognise that EDI is a journey, not a destination,” Paul Bruton, Managing Director. “Retaining our Investors in Diversity Silver accreditation reflects the collective commitment and hard work of our entire team. In the coming months, we look forward to collaborating closely with the Centre for Diversity to implement an action plan aimed at further enhancing our workplace culture.”

Building on our internal efforts, Bennett Construction continues to champion equality, diversity, and inclusion beyond the walls of our own organisation. Externally, we are actively working to attract more females into the construction industry through a range of impactful initiatives. As a Gold sponsor of the Construction Industry Federation’s International Women’s Day, we proudly celebrate and support the achievements of women across our sector, paving the way for greater female participation and leadership.

Our commitment extends to education with our involvement in the STEM Passport programme. This programme addresses unequal access to STEM courses and careers among people from under-served communities, especially females, to pursue studies and careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through our Constructing Careers: Schools Edition initiative, we partner with Shay Murtagh and engage with schools to inspire students to explore the diverse opportunities available within construction. These initiatives reflect our belief that progress is made not only by nurturing talent within our organisation, but also by investing in the next generation and creating pathways for everyone to thrive in our industry.

Together, through these collaborative efforts and ongoing partnerships, Bennett Construction continues to work towards a more inclusive future for construction, where everyone is empowered to succeed.
