CENTRAL BOULEVARD PARK SOD TURNING MARKS MAJOR MILESTONE IN ADAMSTOWN DEVELOPMENT
A significant milestone in the continued development of Adamstown was marked on 29 April 2026 with the official sod turning ceremony for Central Boulevard Park, the third of four major parks planned for the rapidly growing community.
The event was attended by James Browne, Mayor of South Dublin County Council Pamela Kearns, representatives from the Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund (formerly the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund), project stakeholders and main contractor Kilwex.
New Public Park to Support Adamstown’s Growing Community
The new Central Boulevard Park is being delivered by South Dublin County Council in partnership with Evara, one of Ireland’s largest private homebuilders, as part of the long-term vision for the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone (SDZ).
The project follows the successful delivery of Airlie Park and Tandy’s Lane Park and will further enhance the provision of high-quality public open spaces for residents and visitors in the expanding South Dublin community.
Funded under the Government’s Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund, the project forms part of a wider strategy to support sustainable urban growth through improved community infrastructure, public amenities and enhanced connectivity.

Central Boulevard Park to Include Play Areas, Sports Facilities and Green Spaces
Once complete, Central Boulevard Park will provide a modern and inclusive recreational space designed for people of all ages.
Key features of the development include:
- Natural play areas
- Toddler and youth play spaces
- A teen zone with informal basketball facilities
- Outdoor calisthenics and fitness areas
- Landscaped green spaces
- Retention of existing hedgerows and mature oak trees
- Enhanced walking and cycling connections
The park’s location near the Adamstown Primary Care Centre and town centre will also strengthen pedestrian and cycling routes throughout the wider area.
Minister James Browne Welcomes Community Investment
Speaking at the sod-turning ceremony, Minister James Browne said the development represents a major investment in sustainable communities and public infrastructure.
He said:
“I am delighted to mark the sod turning for Central Boulevard Park, which represents one of three projects in Adamstown being supported through the Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund.
This important community amenity will provide a shared green space for families and residents while also enabling the delivery of 585 residential units under the Adamstown Strategic Development Zone planning scheme.”

Evara Highlights Commitment to Community Development
Michael Hynes said the project reflects Evara’s wider commitment to building communities alongside new homes.
He commented:
“At Evara, we don’t just develop new homes — we create communities and neighbourhoods by ensuring our developments include the amenities and facilities residents need to enjoy a high quality of life.
Central Boulevard Park will become a superb recreational amenity for both existing and future residents of Adamstown.”
Evara is one of the principal developers within the Adamstown SDZ and has already delivered more than 2,200 homes, alongside major infrastructure projects including The Crossings retail park and Adamstown Town Centre, Ireland’s first newly developed town centre since Shannon in the 1960s.

Investment Supports Sustainable Growth in South Dublin
Mayor Pamela Kearns described Central Boulevard Park as a major investment in the quality of life for residents in South Dublin.
She said:
“Access to high-quality, well-designed green spaces is essential to building sustainable communities, supporting active lifestyles and strengthening social connections for citizens of all ages.”
Once completed, Central Boulevard Park will play a key role in Adamstown’s social and recreational infrastructure, supporting both existing residents and future housing growth across the area.
