AMS – Architectural & Metal Systems Ltd. are aluminium extruders, based in Little Island, Cork, Ireland and are proud to announce the opening of a new extrusion press thanks to a multi-million Euro investment. AMS compete in the aluminium window, door, façade and curtain wall systems space globally since 1990. The new investment was partly prompted by the increased demand for the manufacture of quality aluminium products and thermally efficient systems for construction.
The investment sees the addition of a new 8 inch/ 9 inch (203mm/228mm) front-loading GIA extrusion press, runout table, cooling beds, stretcher, cold saw and ageing oven. The new press will complement the state-of-the-art facility in which the existing 7 inch (178mm) GIA press will continue to fulfil orders for customers in the windows and doors, data centres, lighting, signage, construction and engineering industries. The new press will positively impact the AMS production process, lead times, allows for much larger profiles, effects our international market expansion, the Irish economy and our customers. The addition means production capacity will increase by nearly threefold, from 6,000 tonnes to over 16,000 tonnes of aluminium each year.
According to the economic and research agencies, Ireland is facing an unprecedented degree of uncertainty in the coming months stemming from the outcome of Brexit. This is combined with the possibility of increased international trade tensions and potential tariffs. AMS is no stranger to committing and working through uncertain times. In 2006, AMS made a large investment in the company’s extrusion infrastructure, which was quickly followed by one of the biggest economic downturns of our era. During this time, AMS grew to produce more designs in response to the changing demands of the aluminium industry, creating innovative patents ensuring the appetite for highly efficient thermal products in industry was satisfied.
Today, AMS still adopt the same philosophy of providing quality services and products to customers throughout all stages of design.
