PLANNING PERMISSIONS – QUARTER 3 2018

DWELLING UNITS APPROVED UP 69.2% IN YEAR

In the third quarter of 2018, planning permissions were granted for 8,018 dwelling units, compared with 4,739 units for the same period in 2017, an increase of 69.2%.

The third quarter figures also show that:
Planning permissions were granted for 4,879 houses in the third quarter of 2018 and 3,764 in the third quarter of 2017, an increase of 29.6%.

Planning permissions were granted for 3,139 apartment units, compared with 975 units for the same period in 2017, an increase of 221.9%.

One-off houses accounted for 17.7% of all new dwelling units granted planning permission in this quarter. See Table 4.
The total number of planning permissions granted for all developments was 7,440. This compares with 6,884 in the third quarter of 2017, an increase of 8.1%.

Total floor area planned was 2,010 thousand square metres in the third quarter of 2018. Of this, 54.6% was for new dwellings, 32.5% for other new constructions and 12.9% for extensions. The total floor area planned increased by 33.1% in comparison with the same quarter in 2017.

In this quarter, 364 planning permissions were granted for new buildings for Agriculture. This compares to 378 permissions in the same quarter of 2017.
